Poland will experience unusually warm, spring‑like temperatures this December, with highs of 14–16 °C in Lower Silesia and the north‑west.
Warm Core Across Poland
On Wednesday, Poland will be situated in a transitional zone between the mid‑latitude high over southern Europe and the Norwegian Atlantic low. Behind the warm front of the low, a warm air mass will surge in, producing pleasant, spring‑like temperatures. Anticipated highs of 14–16 °C will be seen in Lower Silesia, with warmth also in Greater Poland, the central part, and Kuyavia, where temperature readings will generally be 10–12 °C. Across the rest of the country, temperatures will reach about 8–11 °C.
Sunlight and Clouds: Regional Variations
Apart from pleasant temperatures, residents of central and southern regions can expect ample sunshine. As day progresses, clouds will gather from the west, possibly giving brief showers late in the evening. Light, brief rainfall is also expected in Podlasie and the Masurian Lakes. Throughout the day, clouds will dominate the east, north and northwest. In the high Sudetes and pre‑mountain region, wind gusts up to 60–80 km/h are forecast.
Sudetes to Be Swept by Strong Winds
The high Sudetes and adjacent foothills will experience wind gusts reaching 60–80 km/h, adding a brisk element to the otherwise mild weather.
Mildness Lifts Through the Week
Until the end of the week, a brightening spell is expected along the southern and south‑western borders, with local fog. Other parts of the country will be less colorful. Thursday may see brief clearing over the north (Pomeranian, West Pomeranian, Warmian‑Masurian, and Podlaskie). In the rest of Poland, the skies will be overcast. On Friday morning, eastern and northeastern voivodeships may see rain, while fog may appear locally in the south. Saturday and Sunday look forecast as misty and rainy for most of the country.
Winter Outlook Remains Uncertain
At present there is no obvious return of winter. It is also difficult to predict holiday weather due to high volatility of such forecasts. In colloquial terms, it would be “reading tea leaves.” At least until mid‑December, a typically autumnal rather than wintery atmosphere is expected.
