In the coming weekends, Warsaw will ban cars from Miodowa to Senatorska, Podwale, and Kiliński, easing congestion and keeping buses able to serve festive markets and holiday lights.
Festive Markets Draw Crowds, Cars Create Jams
Warsaw’s popular holiday markets and winter illuminations are expected to pull in crowds, but cars on the main streets are already causing heavy traffic congestion.
Weekend Ban on Miodowa, Senatorska, Podwale, and Kiliński Announced
To mitigate this, the city will impose a weekend ban on car entry from Miodowa to Senatorska, and further onto Podwale and Kiliński, aiming to ease pressure on the Old Town.
Heavy Congestion Around Old Town Persists
The congestion is especially severe on the approach to the Old Town, as the Royal Route’s pedestrianization diverts vehicles onto the Silesian-Dąbrowa Bridge, Miodowa, Senatorska, Podwale, and Długa, creating long queues that trap both cars and buses.
Police Patrols Manage Traffic Until Signage Installed
Until new road signs are posted, police will patrol the area, directing some cars from Senatorska toward Miodowa to prevent a complete block of Podwale and avoid halting bus services.
Public Transport Suggested to Reach Holiday Attractions
The municipality urges visitors to use the metro, trams, and regional trains to reach the festive attractions, which bypass traffic snarls and connect directly to the market and illumination sites.
