Warsaw: Central Way of the Cross to Disrupt Traffic, Royal Route to Close to Vehicles

Warsaw’s Central Way of the Cross procession on Friday evening will cause traffic disruptions, followed by the closure of the Royal Route to vehicles from Saturday through Monday.

Central Way of the Cross Route and Schedule

The Central Way of the Cross will traditionally begin at the Church of St. Anne on Krakowskie Przedmieście. The procession will commence at 8:00 PM on Friday, proceeding along Miodowa, Senatorska, through Teatralny Square, Wierzbowa, through Piłsudski Square, Królewska, and Krakowskie Przedmieście, returning to the Church of St. Anne.

Streets along the procession route will be closed to traffic. Bus lines 106, 111, 116, 128, 175, 178, 180, 503, and 518 may operate on detours until 10:00 PM.

Royal Route Pedestrian Zone

From Friday night into Saturday, Krakowskie Przedmieście and Nowy Świat streets will be transformed into pedestrian zones.

Throughout the weekend and on Easter Monday, only pedestrians and cyclists will be permitted on the Royal Route, from the de Gaulle Roundabout to Castle Square. Normal traffic will resume on Tuesday, April 7th, at dawn.

Bus Route Changes

Bus lines 106, 111, 116, 128, 175, 178, 180, 503, and N44 will have altered routes.
