Heavy traffic disruptions in Warsaw’s central area Saturday, 18 December 2025, as a diplomatic convoy escorts Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for his Polish visit.
Key Streets Blocked
Major arterial routes in the city core were temporarily closed, including Żwirki i Wigury, Krzycki, Raszyńska, and a stretch of Jerozolimskie from Zawisza Square to Kościuszkowski Coast.
Newy Świat, Trzech Krzyży Square, and a section of Ujazdowskie between Bagatela and Gagarina were also sealed.
Parallel cross‑streets intersecting these blocks faced total shutdowns, preventing any through traffic.
Public Transport Impact
City buses were rerouted onto detour paths, with many routes experiencing delays or temporary suspensions near the closures.
Trams likewise had to switch to alternate lines, leading to increased wait times for commuters.
Future Closures on Friday
Further temporary stoppages are expected on 19 December, particularly along access roads to hotels, venues of diplomatic talks, and routes bound for Chopin Airport.
Motorists and passengers should anticipate short‑term street reopenings and re‑organization of downtown lines and main airport‑city connections.
Official Statement from WTP
According to WTP, “Due to the diplomatic convoy and closures for traffic on the streets Żwirki i Wigury, Krzycki, Raszyńska, Jerozolimskie between Zawisza Square and Kościuszkowski Coast, Newy Świat from the Rondo de Gaulle to Trzech Krzyży Square, Trzech Krzyży Square to Ujazdowskie on the Belwederska‑Bagatela–Gagarina segment, and all intersecting streets, WTP vehicles are encountering circulation difficulties. Buses and trams will be directed to detour routes along the nearest available communication avenues.”
