Warsaw City Center Faces Weekend Traffic Disruptions Due to Public Assemblies

Public gatherings and marches planned in Warsaw’s Śródmieście from Friday to Sunday will cause street closures and detours for public transportation.

Friday, April 10th

Around noon, a gathering will commence in front of the Presidential Palace, scheduled to conclude at 10:00 PM. During this time, bus lines 116, 128, 175, 178, 180 and 503 may be diverted via Marszałek Józef Piłsudski Square and Senatorska Street.

A second public assembly will begin at 2:30 PM on Three Crosses Square. Initially, access through the square and Aleje Ujazdowskie (from the intersection with Piękna Street and Nowy Świat to the General Charles de Gaulle Roundabout) will be blocked.

From 2:30 PM, bus line 108 will terminate at the Warszawa Powiśle station and return towards Ananasowa. Bus lines 116, 180 and 503 will detour via Aleje Jerozolimskie and Piękna Street, also experiencing route changes due to the Presidential Palace gathering. Bus lines 118 and 166 will be diverted through Piękna, Górnośląska, Myśliwiecka, and Rozbrat streets. Bus lines 127, 131 and 171 will bypass Three Crosses Square, continuing straight along Aleje Jerozolimskie and turning onto Wioślarska Street near the Vistula River (the same route will be used in the return direction). Bus line 517 will only reach the Rondo R. Dmowskiego roundabout.

As participants move towards Castle Square, the entire procession route—Nowy Świat, Krakowskie Przedmieście, Królewska, Marszałek J. Piłsudski Square, General M. Tokarzewski-Karaszewicz Street, Krakowskie Przedmieście—will be closed. Buses in the area will detour via Mazowiecka and Świętokrzyska streets (line 106 via Bank Square and Marszałkowska Street; lines 107, 111, 116, 178, 180, 503), or have a shortened route to Plac Grzybowski (lines 128, 175).

In the evening (6:30 PM – 10:00 PM), a third gathering is planned, starting near St. John’s Archcathedral and Castle Square, proceeding to the Presidential Palace. During this time, bus lines 116, 128, 175, 178, 180 and 503 will travel via Marszałek J. Piłsudski Square.

Saturday, April 11th

On Saturday, a gathering is scheduled for around noon at Castle Square, followed by a march starting around 12:30 PM along Miodowa, Krakowskie Przedmieście, Nowy Świat, Mysia, Nowogrodzka, Bracka, Three Crosses Square, Wiejska, J. Matejki, Aleje Ujazdowskie, and Aleja J. Ch. Szucha to Aleje Ujazdowskie.

Organizers anticipate the march will last until approximately 3:30 PM. If police close roads, bus routes 116, 127, 128, 131, 166, 171, 175, 178, 180, 503, 517 and 518 will be altered.

A second Saturday gathering is planned for 1:00 PM in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Participants will then proceed along Aleja J. Ch. Szucha, through Plac Na Rozdrożu, along Trasa Łazienkowska, L. Krzywickiego Street to the Israeli Embassy, where the gathering will continue until 5:00 PM. If passage is blocked, tram lines 14 and 15, and bus lines 116, 118, 138, 143, 151, 166, 180, 182, 187, 188, 502, 503, 514, 520, 523, 525 will be diverted.

Sunday, April 12th

On Sunday, a public assembly is scheduled for 3:00 PM on Aleje Jerozolimskie, near the National Museum. Participants will march along Aleje Jerozolimskie, the General Charles de Gaulle Roundabout, Nowy Świat, Krakowskie Przedmieście, Świętojańska, Old Town Market Square, Długa, and Muranowska Street to the Monument to the Fallen and Murdered in the East.
