Warsaw City Police Harvest 400 kg of Electronic Waste for Charity Recycling

Over 400 kg of household electronics and nearly 90 kg of used batteries were collected by Warsaw City Police to feed the “po DRUGIE” Foundation, turning waste into food vouchers for vulnerable youth.

Massive Collection

Polish police officers gathered close to 400 kg of small electronic devices—old phones, mixers, hairdryers, and cables—along with around 87 kg of batteries in a recent drive in Warsaw.

Green Initiative

The collected e‑waste will be sent for professional recycling instead of ending up in general trash, ensuring proper disposal and environmental protection.

Charitable Impact

In return for the recycling, the “po DRUGIE” Foundation will receive food vouchers for the children and young adults it supports, helping those at risk of homelessness move towards independence.

Coordination Effort

The operation was conceived by Staff‑Insp. Justyna Faltynowska of the Sixth Field Battalion of Warsaw Police, who also works with the Street Medical Patrol. Young policewoman Magdalena Nowak from the Promotion and Communication Division coordinated the effort and formally presented the collected items to Foundation president Agnieszka Sikora, a newly elected “Warsaw Person of the Year”.

Future Outlook

Evidence suggests this was the first edition of the campaign, and it has the potential to be repeated in the future.
