Warsaw Construction Site Fire: Black Smoke Visible Across City

A fire broke out at a construction site on Laurowa Street in Warsaw around 1 PM, with black smoke visible throughout the city.

Construction Site Fire Reported

The Warsaw City State Fire Service received a report of a fire at a construction site located at 31 Laurowa Street around 1:00 PM. Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed a fire was burning on the building’s facade.

Extent of the Fire and Response

Approximately 40-50 meters of the facade were engulfed in flames. Initially, four fire crews responded, with an additional five en route. Ultimately, a total of 18 fire crews from the State Fire Service participated in the firefighting efforts.

Crane Operator Evacuated with Injuries

Firefighters evacuated one person from a crane on the construction site. The crane operator was trapped in the cabin due to the fire blocking their escape route. Providing assistance to the operator was a priority for the fire crews.

Operator Sustains Burns, Fire Contained

The crane operator was transferred to a medical rescue team with burns to their hands and face. The fire has been contained and is being extinguished. The black smoke was visible from many kilometers away and across various parts of Warsaw. Deputy Commander Jakub Okólski of the Warsaw City State Fire Service is directing operations. Firefighters are continuing to work at the scene, gradually returning crews to their stations.
