Warsaw has been brought to life in Fortnite’s latest island, where players explore the capital’s history across three eras in an interactive, educational adventure.
New Interactive Map Launch
Warsaw has just entered the virtual world of Fortnite. The new ‘City of Wonders’ map transports players into an interactive world of the capital, blending fun with education.
Fortnite, with over 650 million registered players, draws more than 1.5 million users daily, making it an ideal platform to promote Warsaw among young audiences.
Historic Themes and Alternate Reality
The map was created by the Capital Tourism Office, allowing players to discover Warsaw’s distinctive motifs and history in a wholly new, engaging rendition.
The new island places players in an alternate reality where the city faces a Basilisk, casting a curse on the Warsaw Mermaid and turning her into the demonic version depicted in 14th‑century woodcuts.
Three Eras, One Journey
The game’s action spans the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries, giving players the chance to travel through time and discover Warsaw in different iterations.
Challenges and Local Heroes
Players take on challenges set by the Agency of Wonders, encountering both historical figures and legends as well as contemporary heroes such as Tytus Brzozowski and Kataryniarz Jan.
The most engaging tasks combine education, dexterity, and logical thinking, encouraging players to uncover Warsaw’s history.
Atmospheric Settings
The virtual map includes atmospheric streets of 19th‑century Warsaw, mysterious royal gardens, and a modern city centre with towering skyscrapers against a sunset backdrop.
Official Commentary
“The game environment is inspired by Warsaw but is not an exact replica. Our ‘City of Wonders’ changes over time, just as the characters that appear,” says Paweł Moras, director of the Capital Tourism Office.
Warsaw-themed content in Fortnite allows young players to learn the capital’s history in an engaging, fully interactive way.
“We live in the 21st century, where new technologies and games become a natural mode of communication with young audiences. Combining history and virtual fun offers youth an attractive challenge. Warsaw’s appearance in Fortnite is a great promotion of the capital, especially among young people,” adds Paweł Moras.
Accessing the Island
The game can be downloaded for free from the Fortnite site or the island code can be entered in the Fortnite lobby: 8289‑0792‑0837.
