Warsaw: Fan Suspect Arrested in Robbery of Minor Near Polonia Stadium

Warsaw prosecutors have arrested Jakub Z., a football fan, on suspicion of robbing a minor near Polonia Warsaw stadium on April 2, 2026.

Investigation Launched into Stadium-Area Robbery

The Warsaw Śródmieście-Północ District Prosecutor’s Office is investigating Jakub Z., a supporter of a lower-table Ekstraklasa club, for his alleged involvement in the robbery.

Investigators state that Jakub Z. allegedly acted with two unidentified men to attack the minor and steal a Real Madrid-branded backpack and its contents.

Details of the Assault

According to prosecutor Piotr Antoni Skiba, the perpetrators used violence against the minor, including shoving, kicking, and forcing them to the ground. They also sprayed the victim’s hands and clothing black, painting the letter “L” on the clothing, and recorded the incident on a mobile phone before stealing the backpack.

Charges and Potential Sentence

Jakub Z. has been charged under articles 280 § 1, 275 § 1, and 276 of the Polish Criminal Code, in conjunction with article 11 § 2, carrying a potential sentence of 2 to 15 years imprisonment.

Suspect Denies Allegations

The suspect has denied the charges and refused to provide a statement or answer questions from the prosecutor, according to prosecutor Skiba.

Arrest Despite Bail Offer

Despite offering a surety of 15,000 złoty and agreeing to police supervision, prosecutors requested a three-month pre-trial detention for Jakub Z. The court granted the request, citing concerns about obstruction of justice and the likelihood of a severe sentence.

Identification and Ongoing Investigation

The suspect was identified by an officer from the Warsaw Police Department’s Fan Affairs Unit after being recognized on surveillance footage from the scene. Police are currently working to identify the two remaining suspects.
