Following a brawl involving Tajik nationals at a Warsaw gas station, police conducted widespread checks resulting in thousands in fines.
Extensive Police Checks Follow Wola District Brawl
Officers from the Capital City Police Headquarters conducted extensive checks, verifying the sobriety of 201 individuals. They performed 385 driving license inspections, 146 personal checks, and 136 baggage inspections. Police seized two driving licenses and one registration certificate, while preparing one court application.
Gas Station Fight Served as Catalyst
The police operations followed a brawl at a gas station in Warsaw’s Wola district during the night from Friday to Saturday. Tajik citizens were involved in the incident, which resulted in a 36-year-old man being hospitalized with head injuries. Three men, aged 25-36, were detained. Capital police confirmed that a vehicle used by the perpetrators and a tool used to cause serious bodily injury were secured as evidence.
“Safe Transport” Operation Statistics
The Capital City Police Headquarters recalled that during last year’s “Safe Transport” operations, 46 individuals were detained with deportation decisions made against them, along with 126 drivers without proper licenses. Police seized 540 registration certificates and 53 driving licenses, towing 115 vehicles in total.
Ongoing Enforcement Actions
Police emphasized they check driver sobriety, required permits, transport operation legality, vehicle technical condition, and foreigners’ legal status in Poland during these operations. Authorities have announced that these enforcement actions will continue.
