Warsaw Fire Claims One Life, Leaves Two Injured

A fire at an apartment on Kobielska Street in Warsaw’s Grochów district on April 17th resulted in one fatality and two hospitalizations.

Apartment Fire in Grochów

A fire broke out at an apartment located at 71 Kobielska Street in Warsaw’s Grochów district on Friday, April 17th, after 9 PM. The fire occurred on the second floor of a four-story building.

One person died as a result of the fire. Two men who evacuated the burning apartment were taken to the hospital with injuries.

Injuries and Evacuation

Initial reports indicate the fire engulfed an apartment on the second floor. Upon arrival, the apartment was already ablaze. Two men managed to escape the burning unit.

One of the men sustained severe injuries and was transported to the hospital in critical, life-threatening condition. The second injured man was hospitalized with moderate injuries.

Approximately 10 people evacuated from the building’s stairwell. No other injuries were reported beyond the two men who left the burning apartment.

Fire Suppression and Investigation

Four fire crews and a city operational group were dispatched to extinguish the fire. Simultaneously, five medical rescue teams were sent to provide assistance to the injured.

After the fire was contained, firefighters extinguished the remaining flames within the apartment. The body of a woman was found in one of the rooms.

Due to the extent of heat damage, rescuers were unable to provide assistance to the woman. Kobielska Street was closed to traffic during the operation. Police, under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office, will investigate the cause of the fire.
