Warsaw Hit by Morning Storm: Trees Down, Power Outages Reported

A morning storm struck Warsaw and surrounding areas, causing widespread damage including fallen trees, blocked roads, and power outages.

Storm Causes Widespread Damage in Warsaw

The morning storm that passed over Warsaw and its surroundings caused numerous damages and disruptions. The Warsaw State Fire Service headquarters received approximately 50 reports concerning broken branches, fallen trees, and damage to energy and road infrastructure.

Most interventions involved trees falling onto roads, buildings, and power lines. Firefighters have been working since morning to remove the effects of the storm in various parts of the capital, but operations are hampered in some areas due to the need for specialized equipment or waiting for the arrival of the energy emergency services.

Building Hit by Fallen Tree

A more serious situation occurred on Rzeźbiarska Street, where a tree fell onto a building. To safely remove the fallen tree, firefighters must first pull it away from the building’s structure and then begin cutting it. Specialized equipment is needed for these operations.

Roads Blocked, Public Transport Disrupted

Disruptions are also occurring on Piechocińska Street. There, a tree fell onto the road and power lines, completely blocking the road. This has led to detours for public transport, affecting lines 705, 735, and 736. WTP reports: “Due to the blocked passage in the area of Płochocińska / Cieślewskich streets, there are disruptions in the operation of lines 705,735,736. Possible delays in courses and directing lines to detour routes. Buses have been directed to a detour route.

Power Outages and Infrastructure Damage

A similar situation is occurring on Szamocin Street, where a tree severed a power line and blocked the road. Emergency energy services are also needed there before the effects of the incident can be fully removed.

Damage was also reported near the Siekierkowska route, where a fallen tree damaged road infrastructure. On the exit from Marywilska Street to Płochocińska Street, a broken branch blocked part of the road, causing local traffic disruptions.

In many places where trees fell onto power lines, power outages occurred. The most cases were reported in the Białołęka and Wawer areas. Services are continuously receiving further reports and carrying out activities related to removing threats.

Impact Extends Beyond Warsaw

The damage and disruptions are not limited to Warsaw. The effects of the morning storm are also visible in the surrounding counties, where numerous damages to forests and infrastructure have also occurred.
