Starting 31 October 2025, Warsaw’s Śródmieście and Praga‑Północ districts will prohibit alcohol sales in shops and petrol stations from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Local prohibition begins
The ban takes effect at midnight on 1 November 2025, with the first prohibited interval spanning 0:00 to 6:00. From 1 November onward it will run daily from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Pilot programme for nightlife districts
City council introduced the measure as a pilot covering only retail and petrol stations. Bars, pubs and restaurants remain unaffected and can operate as usual.
The pilot aims to assess impacts before any expansion to other districts.
Scope and enforcement
Only shops and petrol stations are targeted. Violations can lead to fines, administrative sanctions and possible licence revocation. Businesses are urged to adapt sales hours and clearly display signage.
Monitoring “alcohol tourism” risk
Authorities will monitor potential spill‑over of nightlife patrons into adjacent districts. The city has pledged to track the phenomenon and contain cross‑district traffic.
