Warsaw residents will soon be able to settle city taxes and fees via the mObywatel app or portal, an agreement signed today by the mayor and the National Economic Bank.
Scope of Digital Payments
Transactions will cover property tax, agricultural tax, forest tax, and combined monetary obligations.
Payments can be made by BLIK or card, with settlement handled by the National Economic Bank (BGK).
Agreement Signatories
Rafał Trzaskowski, Mayor of Warsaw, and Mirosław Czekaj, Chairman of BGK, signed the acceptance agreement today.
Mayor’s Comment
“Digitalizing city services is a priority. Adding Warsaw to ePayments in mObywatel simplifies life for residents, allowing quick, convenient, and secure settlement from home.”
Availability Timeline
Digital payments will be available before the end of 2025.
Users with outstanding city obligations can view and pay them in a few steps without logging into municipal payment systems.
ePayments Collaboration
The project is developed through cooperation between BGK, the Ministry of Digital Affairs, the Central Informatics Center, the Polish Payment Standard, the Polska Bezgotówkowa Foundation, and Fiserv.
Nationwide Adoption
95 municipalities across Poland already use the solution, enabling payments for various municipal taxes and obligations.
Warsaw’s Significance
With over 1.8 million residents, Warsaw is the largest municipality in the country; roughly 900,000 citizens receive financial obligations from the city.
BGK’s Role
“Signing today marks a pivotal moment. Managing payments for the country’s largest municipality demonstrates the trust local governments place in us. As Poland’s development bank, we support local governments in digitalizing services and provide modern, secure payment solutions.”
