Poland’s capital has entered the virtual world of Fortnite, where a new web‑island called the City of Wonders lets players explore Warsaw’s history and landmarks.
Warsaw Enters Fortnite
In a move that blends gaming and tourism, Warsaw has joined Fortnite’s massive player base of over 650 million worldwide, offering a fresh platform to showcase the city to young audiences.
The City of Wonders Map
The map was created by the Capital City Tourism Office. It recreates Warsaw’s iconic motifs in an interactive setting, while adding a fantasy twist where a Basilisk threatens the city and curses the Warsaw Mermaid, turning her into a demonic figure from 14th‑century engravings.
Time‑Traveling Warsaw: Three Eras
Gameplay spans the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, letting players move through time and experience the city’s evolution from cobbled streets to modern skyscrapers.
Challenges and Characters
Players tackle tasks issued by the Agency of Wonders, meeting historical figures, legends, and contemporary heroes such as Tytus Brzozowski and Kataryniarz Jan, in quests that blend education with skill and logic.
Interactive Learning Experience
The missions encourage exploration of Warsaw’s past, combining learning, dexterity and reasoning. Players discover nineteenth‑century alleys, royal gardens and a contemporary city center set against a sunset backdrop.
Join the Game
Fortnite is free to download from its website. Players can also enter the island code 8289‑0792‑0837 in the game lobby to access the new map.
