Warsaw: Man Attempted to Push Woman Onto Approaching Metro; Not Arrested

A man tried to push a woman onto an approaching train at Warsaw’s Młociny metro station on August 13, but prosecutors did not seek his arrest, citing lack of evidence for preventive detention.

Dangerous incident at the metro station

A dangerous incident occurred on Wednesday, August 13, at the Młociny metro station in Warsaw. According to the police, a man on a crowded platform attempted to push a woman waiting for a train directly under the arriving train, after which he left the scene.

42-Year-Old Man Arrested

The 42-year-old suspect was arrested the same day. He faces charges of endangering another person’s life or causing severe bodily harm. The potential sentence includes up to three years in prison. Prosecutor Piotr A. Skiba of the Warsaw Regional Prosecutor’s Office told Interia.pl that the woman and man had no prior acquaintance or conflict. The suspect claimed he did not intend to harm anyone, added he is an alcoholic and does not remember the incident.

No Arrest Warrant

Prosecutors did not request pretrial detention. “Investigations so far have not provided justified concerns that the suspect would reoffend against life, health, or public safety,” Skiba explained. Instead, police supervision was imposed, along with a ban on approaching the victim. The suspect has expressed willingness to voluntarily accept a one-year prison sentence.
