Warsaw Police Arrest Repeat Offender in Car Break-In Spree

Police in Warsaw’s Praga Północ district arrested a 36-year-old man suspected of multiple car break-ins, and a court has ordered his temporary detention.

Suspect Apprehended After Surveillance

Officers from the Criminal Department of the Praga Północ command apprehended a man suspected of numerous car break-ins in the Praga Północ area, following extensive operational activities. The 36-year-old was well-known to law enforcement due to his criminal history.

Investigators determined the suspect operated at night or in the early morning, traveling by bicycle to observe parked vehicles and identify potential targets. Stolen items, primarily electronics and tools, were sold at a local pawnshop.

Arrest on the Scene

Police successfully apprehended the suspect while in the act of committing a crime. Dynamic operational actions at a parking lot on Folwarczna Street led to the 36-year-old’s arrest. Officers found metal faucets, a car camera, a courier package, a phone, a crowbar, and gloves in his backpack.

The suspect confessed to stealing the items from an Opel and headphones and a power bank from a Peugeot, both broken into on the same day.

Charges and Detention

The man was taken to the police station on Jagiellońska Street, where investigators continued proceedings. The collected evidence was submitted to the Praga Północ District Prosecutor’s Office, where he was interrogated.

The prosecutor presented him with six charges related to car break-ins. Due to the multirecidivism, he faces a potential sentence of up to 15 years in prison.

Court Orders Temporary Arrest

The court granted the prosecutor’s request for a temporary arrest of the suspect.
