A driver fleeing police in Warsaw on April 13th crashed into a parked car after driving the wrong way on a major thoroughfare.
Initial Intervention and Pursuit
On Monday, April 13th, around 9:20 PM, Warsaw police initiated an intervention involving a Volkswagen Tiguan driver who entered oncoming traffic at the intersection of Prymasa Tysiąclecia Avenue and Górczewska Street.
The driver failed to stop for a check and began fleeing from officers. The pursuit concluded on Tyszkiewicza Street.
Collision and Arrest
During the escape attempt, the driver collided with a parked vehicle on Tyszkiewicza Street, then abandoned the car and fled on foot. Police officers apprehended the suspect after a short chase.
No Injuries Reported
No one was injured as a result of the incident. Neither the pursuit nor the collision resulted in any injuries to individuals.
Driver Details and Testing
Police identified the driver as a 54-year-old Polish citizen. He tested negative for alcohol, but a blood sample was taken for further analysis for the presence of narcotics.
Charges Filed and License Status
The driver faces charges under Articles 178b and 178a § 1 of the Polish Penal Code. It was also determined that the 54-year-old did not have a valid driver’s license.
Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office Spokesperson, Prosecutor Piotr Antoni Skiba, confirmed the charges and the driver’s lack of driving privileges.
