Unknown assailants fired shots at a Warsaw school building with an air rifle on March 11; no injuries reported as police arrest suspect.
Incident Details
The incident occurred on Wednesday (March 11) morning. Unknown assailants shot at the building of the Social General Lyceum No. 17 on Marszałkowska Street in Warsaw. No one was injured.
Earlier the same day, Asp. Jakub Pacyniak of the Śródmieście police informed that school staff reported shots around 10 AM. The Social General Lyceum No. 17 is located at Marszałkowska Street 34/50, in a 1950s building with an area of about 600 square meters, between Constitution Square and Savior Square. The private school has been operating since 2021.
Police Action
In the evening, police announced that the suspect was arrested several hours after the attack. The man was apprehended in an apartment on Gagarin Street in Warsaw’s Mokotów district. The arrest was carried out by officers from Śródmieście supported by police from the Metropolitan Police Headquarters.
During the search of the suspect’s apartment, police found a pneumatic pistol, so-called air rifle, and metal pellets used as ammunition.
Ongoing Investigation
The 43-year-old is currently at the police station. Officers are conducting further proceedings in this matter. The motive of the perpetrator is not yet known.
