A major public demonstration scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, will disrupt traffic and public transit across central Warsaw as protesters march from Castle Square to the Polish Parliament.
Protest Route and Timeline
The demonstration is set to begin at 12:00 PM at Castle Square. Participants will march through Krakowskie Przedmieście, Nowy Świat, Aleje Ujazdowskie, and Matejki, with a scheduled stop at the Presidential Palace.
The procession is expected to reach the Polish Parliament building on Wiejska Street by 3:00 PM.
Public Transit Detours
Extensive changes to bus and tram routes will be implemented throughout the day. If police close the W-Z Route, tram lines 4, 13, 20, 23, and 26, alongside buses 160 and 190, will be rerouted via the Gdański Bridge.
Buses traveling along the Royal Route—including lines 106, 116, 128, 175, 178, 180, and 503—will be diverted via Piłsudski Square. Meanwhile, lines 118, 127, 131, 166, and 171 will bypass the march via Piękna, Myśliwiecka, and Górnośląska streets.
Bus line 111 will be redirected at the Grand Theatre toward Aleja Solidarności, continuing via Nowy Zjazd, Dobra, and Zajęcza to reach the Świętokrzyski Bridge. Lines 117, 507, and 521 will terminate on the Praga side near PGE Narodowy stadium, while 108 will end at Książęca and 517 at Centrum.
Tram and Parliament Area Closures
Tram service across the Poniatowski Bridge will be suspended. Lines 7, 9, 22, and 74 will terminate at Plac Starynkiewicza on the city center side, while lines 9, 22, and 74 will loop at Wiatraczna on the Praga side, with line 9 turning at Aleja Zieleniecka. Tram 25 will operate exclusively on the Praga side between Annopol and Wiatraczna.
Once protesters reach the Parliament, Piękna Street will be closed between Wiejska and Myśliwiecka. Buses 107 and 159 will be rerouted via Czerniakowska and the Łazienkowska Route to avoid the restricted area near Legia stadium.
