On Tuesday, 11 November, Warsaw will witness major traffic disruptions as citywide Independence Day events—marathons, marches, and parades—shut down key streets in the city centre.
Traffic Restrictions for the 11th
Polish police have announced that on 10 and 11 November a series of road closures will take place across Warsaw. Drivers are urged to avoid the strict city centre area during holiday celebrations.
Key Streets and Bridges to Avoid
The route of the Independence Day Run, starting at 11:11 am from the intersection of Jan Paweł II Avenue and Stawki Street, will see several streets closed. Marszałkowska Street will shut from Żurawiej Street to Świętokrzyska Street before 14:00, and the Jerusalem Avenue stretch from Emilii Plater to the Dmowski roundabout will be blocked at the same time.
During the Independence Day March, running from 14:00 to 19:00, additional closures will occur: Jerusalem Avenue from the Dmowski roundabout toward Praga, the bridge and Poniatowski Avenue to the Washington roundabout, and the Szczecin Promenade between the Świętokrzyszka and Poniatowski bridges. Police may close the Poniatowski Bridge up to three hours before the march begins, and traffic on the Warsaw Bridge between Ludna Street and Śląsko‑Dąbrowski Avenue may also be halted.
Police Urge Drivers to Follow Instructions
On the Polish Police X profile, the police appealed to motorists, noting that officers of the Traffic and Crime Prevention Service will guard safety during the celebratory events. They urged drivers to heed the instructions of traffic officers amid the many route changes.
