Two trams collided on Grójecka Street in Warsaw around 11:00 AM, resulting in minor injuries to eight passengers and significant traffic disruptions.
Tram Collision on Grójecka Street
Around 11:00 AM, a collision occurred between two trams on Grójecka Street, before the intersection with Niemcewicza Street. Tram line 9 ran into the rear of a stationary tram line 1, which was stopped at a red light.
Passengers inside the trams were thrown from their seats as a result of the impact. A total of eight people sustained minor injuries.
Emergency Response and Injuries
Eight medical rescue teams, three fire departments, Warsaw Tramway and Municipal Transport Authority supervisors, and the police were dispatched to the scene.
Paramedics provided assistance to five people at the scene, while three additional individuals were transported to hospitals.
Traffic and Tram Disruptions
The emergency response caused significant disruptions to both road traffic and tram services. Two lanes heading towards Aleja Krakowska and the tram tracks were blocked.
Investigation and Route Changes
Police remained at the scene after rescue operations concluded to determine the detailed circumstances of the incident.
According to WTP (Warsaw Public Transport), the incident caused disruptions to tram lines 1, 7, 9, and 25 on Grójecka and Niemcewicza Streets towards Narutowicza Square. Tram services were diverted onto alternative routes.
Services towards P+R Aleja Krakowska and Banacha were shortened to the Starynkiewicza Square loop, while services towards Annopola, Kawęczyńska-Bazyliki, and Gocławek were shortened to the Narutowicza Square loop.
Substitute Transport
WTP also announced the launch of a substitute bus service (“Za Tramwaj”) running from Narutowicza Square – Grójecka – Zawiszy Square – Jerozolimskie Avenue – Central Station.

Tram services resumed around 12:00 PM.
