Warsaw Tram Vandalized; 22-Year-Old Arrested

Police in Warsaw’s Praga Północ district arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the February shooting of a tram window.

On February 27th, police responded to reports of damage to tram line 13, discovering a spiderweb-like crack in one of the front side windows.

The tram driver reported hearing an impact while waiting to turn onto Targowa Street, but neither the driver nor passengers saw anyone responsible.

Criminal Investigation and Suspect Identification

Investigators examined the tram and interviewed witnesses, leading to an investigation that identified a suspect with a prior criminal record.

The 22-year-old had been previously sought by law enforcement and had multiple prior offenses.

Arrest and Confession

Police arrested the suspect in the Wołomin district. During questioning, he admitted to accidentally firing an air rifle at the tram and discarding it in a trash can.

Charges Filed

The suspect faces charges including endangering the lives and health of passengers and the driver, property damage exceeding 10,000 złoty, and demonstrating blatant disregard for the law.

He could face up to 5 years in prison. The case is under the supervision of the Warsaw-Praga Północ District Prosecutor’s Office.
