A water main rupture on Oct. 8 in Warsaw’s Ochota district caused flooding that shut the Wawelska 52 bus stop and disrupted local traffic.
Incident details
In the morning of Wednesday, October 8, a water main failure occurred in Ochota – near Grójecka Street, at the intersection with Kopińska, on the road towards Okęcie. Water gushed in a wide stream from the ground near the bus stop and flowed in two channels along Grójecka Street and Radomskaya Street.
Quick response and containment
According to a report from our reader, she reported the incident to the MPWiK alarm number around 8:00 a.m. The authorities arrived promptly, shut off the water, and the flood level began to recede. Groundwork to remove the damage is underway on site.
Water shutoff and repair status
As the Municipal Water and Sewer Company reports, the emergency water shutoff covers the building at 56/58 Grójecka Street. MPWiK notes that for the duration of the repair a bucket truck has been positioned at 56/58 Grójecka from the Radomskaya side; the status of the work is listed as “in progress”, without a projected completion date.
Road traffic and pedestrian cautions
Due to road work, local disruptions may occur near the Wawelska 52 bus stop towards Okęcie. Traffic operates with restrictions in the immediate vicinity of the incident – pedestrians and passengers should exercise caution.
Bus service suspension and lines affected
According to WTP, bus lines 157, 191, Z‑9, Z‑14 are experiencing disruptions. Because of the water main failure and construction work, from 9:45 a.m. on Oct. 8, 2025 until further notice the Wawelska 52 bus stop has been suspended. A replacement stop is not being opened.
