Weather Breakdown Ahead: Storms, Hail, and Heavy Rain Expected

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) warns that a North Atlantic low-pressure system will trigger unstable weather across Poland, bringing rain, thunderstorms, and hail starting this Sunday.

Weather Forecast for Sunday

According to the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW), Poland’s weather on Sunday, June 7, will be shaped by a low-pressure system from the North Atlantic. Moderate cloud cover is expected, with clear skies in the southeast, alongside sporadic rain and thunderstorms.

Rainfall totals may reach up to 25 mm in the north during storms, while the Podkarpacie region will remain dry. Temperatures will peak at 20°C in Pomerania, 22°C in the west, and 26°C in the southeast. Winds will be light to moderate, though gusts could reach 70 km/h during storms and 60 km/h in the Sudetes.

Forecast for Monday

On the night of Sunday to Monday, cloud cover will be light and moderate, with increased clouds expected in the north and east. Rain and fading storms are forecast for the north. Minimum temperatures will range from 10°C to 14°C, dropping to 8°C in the Carpathian foothills, with wind gusts of up to 55 km/h during storms.

Monday, June 8, will see moderate to heavy cloud cover, with clearer skies in the south. Rain and local thunderstorms are expected in the north and northeast. Highs will range from 17-20°C in the north to 26°C in the southeast, with wind gusts during storms reaching up to 55 km/h.

Forecast for Warsaw

Warsaw will experience low cloud cover on Sunday, increasing in the afternoon with possible rain and storms. Temperatures will reach 25°C, with wind gusts of 60 km/h during storms. The night will bring light to moderate cloudiness with initial rain and fading storms, and a low of 13°C.

Monday in the capital will bring moderate cloudiness, periodic cloud increases, and potential light, sporadic rain. The maximum temperature will be 23°C with light to moderate winds.

Weather Deterioration in the Coming Days

Tuesday, June 9, will see a decline in conditions with heavy cloud cover and rainfall of 15 l/m², including thunderstorms with hail and heavy rain up to 30 l/m². In the northeast, the deterioration is expected only in the evening. Temperatures will range from 20°C in Pomerania to 28°C in the south.

Atlantic fronts will cross Poland in the following days, bringing cooler polar air from the west. Wednesday, June 10, will see heavy clouds with some clearings and rainfall up to 10 l/m². Storms are possible in the Carpathians, with temperatures between 16°C and 20°C. Persistent rain is expected Thursday, June 11, with totals reaching 10-20 l/m² and temperatures ranging from 18°C to 22°C.
