Poland braces for a sharp weather shift as heavy rain and cooler temperatures forecast to herald the arrival of real winter by year’s end.
Heavy Rainfall Expected From Monday
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) warns that while the weekend (Dec 6‑7) will feature widespread cloud cover, intense rain will be scarce, limited to drizzle and brief showers mainly in the west and northwest regions.
Starting Monday, Dec 8, overall precipitation across the country is projected to increase sharply, a pattern that should persist for several days. The heaviest rains are expected on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Temperatures May Hit 14 °C
Weekend high temperatures across most of the country will range from 4 °C to 8 °C. Gradually warming conditions will follow, with the peak temperature forecast on Wednesday, Dec 10, reaching 14 °C in southwestern areas.
Long‑Term Outlook Signals True Winter
IMGW’s long‑term forecast indicates a noticeable drop in temperatures during the second half of December. A clear decline before Christmas will set a trend that continues into late December and early January, with the national minimum possibly falling below zero.
