Western Poland is bracing for heavy rainfall, prompting the Ministry of Interior and Administration (MSWiA) to organize a special briefing.
The briefing, to be held at the Government Security Centre on Sunday, will involve MSWiA leadership, voivodes (regional governors), and representatives from emergency services.
Emergency Services on Alert
The MSWiA stated that all services under its jurisdiction are fully prepared to respond to potential flooding in the Dolnośląskie, Lubuskie, Wielkopolskie, and Zachodniopomorskie voivodeships.
The situation is being continuously monitored, with the ministry receiving regular reports and making necessary decisions.
IMGW Issues Rainfall Warnings
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) has issued second-degree warnings for intense rainfall, predicting moderate to strong precipitation, with potential thunderstorms.
The warning is in effect from 3:00 PM Sunday to 3:00 PM Monday, covering the Dolnośląskie, Lubuskie, and parts of the Wielkopolskie voivodeships, with rainfall amounts of 40-50 mm, and up to 60 mm locally.
A first-degree rainfall warning has been issued for parts of the Zachodniopomorskie voivodeship and one powiat (county) in the Wielkopolskie voivodeship, forecasting 30-40 mm of rainfall, locally up to 50 mm.
Strongest Rainfall Expected Sunday Evening
The strongest rainfall is forecast for Sunday evening and overnight into Monday.
Frost Warnings Also Issued
The ministry also warned of potential frost, with the IMGW issuing first-degree warnings for parts of the Małopolskie and Podkarpackie voivodeships.
Local air temperatures could drop to around -2°C, and ground temperatures to -5°C, with the alert in effect from Saturday at 11:00 PM to Sunday at 8:00 AM.
