A new subject is coming to Polish schools – health education – which aims to provide comprehensive knowledge and skills for effective self-care and care of others across various dimensions. However, a significant portion of respondents share the Bishopric’s concerns that it may lead to systemic moral corruption.
New Subject in Polish Schools
The new subject, health education, aims to replace “Citizenship and Family” education. The subject’s modern curriculum includes practical knowledge and skills, along with attitudes necessary for taking care of oneself and others, both physically, psychologically, socially, environmentally, and digitally.
Poll Results on Health Education
A survey by SW Research for Onet found that almost half (48.6%) of respondents are not concerned about the new subject, while 22.6% share the Episcopate’s fears about it leading to “systematic moral corruption of children.”
Data Breakdown
Men (25.3%) were slightly more concerned than women (20.2%). People aged 25-34 (28.2%) were more concerned than those aged 18-24 (13.6%). Health education concerns were more prevalent among city dwellers (32.2% of them) compared to those in larger cities (16.4% of them).
