Polish MEPs maintain negative stance on EU-Mercosur deal as requests for ECJ referral emerge from European political groups.
EPP Divisions Over Ratification
The first request was signed by a group of European People’s Party (EPP) deputies, along with liberals and left-wing representatives. The leadership of Christian Democrats has supported ratifying the agreement.
A split is likely during the upcoming vote as Polish EPP MEPs have not changed their negative position on the agreement.
Second Request by European Right
A second, similar request has been submitted to the European Court of Justice by the European right-wing group. Both requests challenge the ratification process of the EU-Mercosur agreement.
