A new poll shows 48% of Poles believe the US under Trump would not help Poland in case of military threat.

According to Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, a military attack on one NATO member is treated as an attack on all alliance members. In June of last year, Donald Trump was asked whether the US would provide military assistance to allies in a situation of military threat. The American president did not give a clear answer. He stated that “there are many definitions of Article 5.”

Will the United States help Poland in a situation of military threat?
48% of Ipsos survey participants believe that the US under Trump’s government will not help Poland in case of military threat. 19% chose “definitely not” and 29% “rather not”. 39% of respondents held the opposite view. 10% answered “definitely yes” and 29% “rather yes”. 13% had no opinion. The survey was conducted on February 19-20 on a national sample of one thousand adult Poles.

In a Gazeta.pl poll, we asked our readers whether Poland should currently rely on the US as its main ally. 79.53% of voters answered negatively. “Yes” was marked by 16.93%. 3.55% had no opinion. A total of 10,971 votes were cast.
