Witnesses reported that the two men present at the crash scene appeared suspicious. They exchanged clothing and one of them kept calling. “Everything looked very suspicious,” said one witness.

The fatal collision occurred on September 2024 on Łazienkowska Road near the Torwar bus stop. A Volkswagen driven by Łukasz Żak, who was intoxicated and held a phone recording his drive, collided with a vehicle carrying a four‑person family. Żak was on the phone and was traveling at 226 km/h in a zone with an 80‑km/h limit. The crash killed 37‑year‑old Rafał P.; his wife and children were seriously injured. Żak faces 5 to 30 years in prison, and prosecutors have charged six others with failure to aid and complicity. The prosecution has charged Mikołaj N., Kacper D., Damian J., Maciej O., Kacper K. with failure to assist, and Aleksandra G. with complicity.
