Woman Driving Skoda Crashes into Tram in Warsaw’s Solidarity Avenue

A woman driving a Skoda crashed into tram line 20 in Warsaw’s Solidarity Avenue near the Independence Museum on Wednesday, September 17, at around 9:30 am.

Collision Details

The accident occurred when the woman attempted to turn back before reaching Bank Square and drove into the oncoming tram. The force of the impact pushed the car several meters towards a nearby pedestrian crossing.

Emergency Response

Emergency responders from a private company arrived first, providing assistance to the injured woman until the arrival of official services. Firefighters and medical responders were also present at the scene.

The woman received initial medical attention and was then transported to a hospital.

Traffic Disruption

Tram traffic in the area was suspended due to the accident and police activity. The suspension lasted until 10:30 am.

Trams on lines 4, 13, 20, 23, and 26 were redirected onto detour routes. A replacement bus line “Za Tramwaj” was introduced, running from DW. Wileński to Okopowa.

Official Statement

According to WTP (Warsaw Transport Authority), due to the collision, tram lines 4, 13, 20, 23, and 26 were rerouted. Specific detour routes were provided for each line.
