A 30-year-old woman was fatally struck by a train after entering a crossing in Urlach (Jadów commune, Wołomin county) despite lowered barriers on February 17 after 22:00.

The woman died at the scene after being hit by a passenger train.

Investigation Details

Preliminary findings indicate that the pedestrian entered the guarded railway crossing when the barriers were down. At the same time, a passenger train was passing, which struck the woman.

According to Capt. Jan Sobkowski of the Wołomin Fire Department speaking to TVN24, an Intercity train struck a person on the tracks, while a Mazowiekie Koleje train approaching from the opposite direction was also involved in the incident.

Emergency Response

The death of the 30-year-old was confirmed at the scene. Nine fire brigades were dispatched, and firefighters evacuated over 100 passengers from the train. Other services participated in the operations, and the accident site was secured until procedural activities were completed.

Further activities at the scene were conducted by the police under the supervision of the prosecutor. The investigation into the exact causes and circumstances of the accident is ongoing.
