Woman Found Stabbed to Death in Łódź Stairwell; Man Detained

Police in Łódź, Poland, responded to a report of a woman found with stab wounds on March 25th, and a 49-year-old man is in custody.

Woman Discovered with Fatal Injuries

On Wednesday, March 25th, around 11:00 AM, Łódź police received a report of a woman lying in a pool of blood in a stairwell of a building on Nałkowska Street.

A 49-year-old man was attempting to resuscitate her when officers arrived. The 29-year-old caller also returned to the scene.

Suspect in Custody

Despite the efforts of emergency responders, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The 49-year-old man is now a suspect in the murder.

Details of the Incident

The victim had stab wounds to her torso and neck. Police secured a bloodied knife found near the body, according to Police Officer Kamila Sowińska.

Investigators determined that the men had been drinking alcohol the day before. They stated that the woman, who lived with the older man, had gone for a walk after breakfast.

The 29-year-old discovered the injured woman while going to the store, called for help, and then left the building. The 49-year-old then began resuscitation attempts.

Investigation and Arrest

Evidence indicated the 49-year-old was responsible for the crime, police stated. He has been charged with murder and temporarily arrested for three months.

He faces a potential sentence of life imprisonment.
