Police discovered the body of a 56-year-old woman in her Łódź apartment amid freezing temperatures.
Body of Woman Found in Bałuty
On Monday, February 2, police from the Bałuty precinct received information that the body of a woman was found in an apartment in a tenement building at ul. Malinowa. Police confirmed that the 56-year-old tenant of the apartment is dead.
Police on Probable Cause of Death
The temperature in the apartment was very low, and the woman was covered with blankets and quilts. Everything indicates that death was caused by hypothermia, but police will confirm this after an autopsy at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Łódź.
Over 40 People Have Died from Hypothermia This Winter
According to “Express Ilustrowany,” on Saturday, January 31, police found the body of a man on the property at ul. Sienkiewicza in Łódź. The body was found while checking places where homeless people might have sought shelter from the cold.
In this case as well, authorities suspect that the cause of death was hypothermia. This winter in Poland, more than 40 people have already died from hypothermia.
