New labor rights allowing self-employment in work tenure face implementation challenges for employees.
New Employee Rights
From January 1st, employees gained a new right. They can include periods such as contract agreements or self-employment in their work tenure, which translates into the right to longer vacation, higher jubilee bonuses or severance pay.
This is in theory, but in practice, as DGP found out, it’s not so easy for some employees to confirm additional tenure.
Practical Challenges Emerge
“The new regulations are an excellent change, I appreciate them and believe they have significant social importance, but as it turns out, they generate practical problems,” notes Marcin Stanecki, Chief Labor Inspector, in a conversation with DGP.
He adds that it didn’t take long for complaints to pour into PIP against employers who refuse to recognize additional tenure.
