The Polish town of Września evacuated more than 360 residents on Thursday after discovering unexploded ordnance near Batorego 8 street.
Evacuation announced
City and municipal authorities issued a notice Thursday afternoon, stating residents would be evacuated in connection with the removal of unexploded munitions from 8 Batorego Street.
The evacuation was scheduled for Friday at 7:30 a.m. and covered nine buildings on Piastów and Batorego streets. Those not able to seek shelter could go to the local community center, while residents with disabilities were offered transport.
Explosives discovered
Polish Police Commander Adam Wojciński confirmed the removal of two F1 grenades, one 75 mm fragmentation shell, two detonators, and 9 mm ammunition, all found at the site.
Operation ends, residents return
After 10 a.m., officials reported the demining operation had finished and residents could return home. The mayor thanked residents and police for their cooperation and disciplined behavior.
