WSJ: DHS Fired Pilot Over Cat, Reveals Trump Favorite’s Advisor Relationship

WSJ reports DHS sources accuse Secretary Kristi Noem and advisor Corey Lewandowski of workplace misconduct, including firing a pilot over a cat incident.

Allegations Against Noem and Lewandowski

“The Wall Street Journal” has revealed that sources within the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) are complaining about Secretary Kristi Noem and her chief advisor and alleged lover, Corey Lewandowski. “Lewandowski and Noem, who are both married, publicly deny rumors of an affair, but – according to department sources – do little to hide their relationship at work.”

Workplace Controversies

Gazeta reports that the head of the US Department of Homeland Security and her chief advisor regularly criticize senior employees, demand polygraph tests for those they don’t trust, and routinely make questionable terminations. A specific case was cited where Lewandowski fired a Coast Guard pilot after Noem’s cat was not transferred to the aircraft. “She had to change planes due to technical issues, but her cat wasn’t moved to the second plane.” Ultimately, the pilot had to be reinstated because there was no one to fly the aircraft.

Criticism of ICE Director

Noem and Lewandowski also sharply criticized the acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Todd Lyons, regarding videos spreading online showing agents in conflict with Minnesota residents. According to media reports, Noem and Lewandowski expressed dissatisfaction with the negative image of the agency, although they had previously encouraged ICE officers to record arrests for promotion on social media.

Who is Kristi Noem?

Kristi Noem is an American Republican politician. From 2019-2025, she was governor of South Dakota, where she gained national recognition for her opposition to pandemic restrictions. Previously, she served eight years in the US House of Representatives. In Donald Trump’s administration, she became Secretary of Homeland Security, responsible for migration policy and border protection. Her actions have long been controversial – she advocates for tough policies toward immigrants and supports the death penalty. In her book, she admitted to shooting her own dog, stating the animal was about to “ruin” her hunting.
