Zakopane Route: Lane Closure Until Thursday

A left lane closure on the Zakopane route towards Krakow begins Monday around 9 a.m. and will last until 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 26.

Traffic Disruptions on the Zakopane Route

Anna Bałdyga of the Krakow branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Highways (GDDKiA) announced the disruptions will begin around 9 a.m. on Monday.

The left lane of the Zakopane route leading towards Krakow will be closed.

Lane Closure Details

The lane closure will affect the entire construction section (approximately 700 meters), with vehicles directed to the right lane – one lane in each direction. This arrangement will continue until Thursday, March 26, at 6 p.m.

Ongoing Construction Work

During this time, work will primarily focus on insulating a pedestrian footbridge near the Jewish Cemetery. Horizontal markings will also be applied, and finishing work will be carried out on the slope near the viaduct.

Work includes installing steel barriers, roadside improvements, and a service bay for environmental protection equipment, according to GDDKiA.

Access to Myślenice

Access to Myślenice from Krakow will still be possible via access road number 3. Sobieskiego Street will remain one-way, but traffic will flow in the opposite direction, towards the center of Myślenice.

Myślenice Road Junction Construction

Construction of the road junction in Myślenice, which began in early 2024, is nearing completion. The investment, worth nearly 56 million złoty, is being carried out by Banimex.

The new junction will eliminate the traffic light at the intersection of the Zakopane route and Sobieskiego Street, and additional lanes will be added for access to the junction and the Zakopane route. A roundabout will be built on Sobieskiego Street, providing access to national road number 7.

New Footbridge for Pedestrians

A key element of the investment is the construction of a new footbridge near the former Jewish Cemetery, which will allow for the removal of the existing pedestrian crossing in that area.
