“Super Express” reports that behind the scenes, there is talk of a “plan B” for Zbigniew Ziobro. The newspaper describes him as deciding to “go all-in and engage in brutal political fighting in Hungary.” The politician used recordings from a 2024 event to attack Viktor Orban’s rival, thus entering into the political competition in Hungary.

Will Ziobro Flee to Belarus?

Civic Coalition MP Wojciech Król suggests Ziobro may be planning to go to Belarus, noting that Król’s colleague, former judge Tomasz Szmydt, is already there. Król criticized Ziobro’s behavior as that of someone “drowning and grabbing at a razor,” calling it shameful that an asylum-seeker would comment on another country’s election campaign.

Magyar Threatens to Extradite Ziobro

In early February, Peter Magyar stated that if his party, Tisza, wins the upcoming Hungarian parliamentary elections on April 12, Ziobro and Marcin Romanowski would be handed over to Polish authorities “on the very first day.” Magyar described Ziobro’s actions on the Hungarian political scene as driven by fear of losing his only safe haven in the EU.

Ziobro Faces Prosecution in Poland

The Polish prosecutor’s office wants to charge Ziobro with 26 offenses, including leading an organized criminal group, which could result in up to 25 years in prison. The Sejm has lifted his parliamentary immunity and authorized his detention. Ziobro fled to Hungary where he received political asylum, with his lawyer claiming the case involves politically motivated repression.
