Zbigniew Ziobro Surfaces in Washington Amidst Legal Scrutiny of TV Republika

Former Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro appeared on TV Republika from Washington D.C., as prosecutors investigate his departure from Poland and the potential role of the broadcaster in his travel logistics.

Sakiewicz questioned by prosecutors

TV Republika president Tomasz Sakiewicz reported that investigators sought to interrogate him regarding a “potential official crime” allegedly committed by Zbigniew Ziobro. Sakiewicz refused to testify, stating he would only appear before a “legally acting prosecutor.”

Sakiewicz denied claims that he facilitated Ziobro’s departure, labeling the investigation an attempt to entrap him. He maintained that Ziobro’s trip to the United States was entirely legal.

Ziobro claims political persecution

Confirming his location in Washington, Zbigniew Ziobro asserted that he is being persecuted by the current Polish government. He mocked domestic security services for their inability to track his whereabouts, quipping that they should check the “Washington Roundabout” in Warsaw.

The former minister expressed solidarity with Sakiewicz, apologizing for the trouble the broadcaster has faced. Ziobro characterized the actions against the station as a form of state-sponsored vengeance and authoritarian governance.

Allegations of government incompetence

Ziobro dismissed the government’s efforts to monitor his movements as a display of profound incompetence. He noted that government ministers only learned of his presence abroad through media reports, despite his status as a high-priority individual for the current administration.
