ZBYSZKO N. PROMOTED DUE TO WOSI: “EVERYONE WONDERED HOW POSSIBLE”

Prosecutor General requests lifting of parliamentary immunity for PiS MP Michał Woś over alleged misconduct in Prison Service promotions.

Prosecutor General Requests Immunity Lifting

Last week, Prosecutor General Waldemar Żurek submitted a request to the Sejm to lift the parliamentary immunity of PiS MP and former Deputy Minister of Justice Michał Woś for criminal liability. According to investigators, Woś allegedly exceeded his powers and failed to fulfill his duties between 2021-2023 regarding the Prison Service’s Internal Inspection.

Prosecutor’s Office on the Findings

As determined by the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Poznań, Woś signed documents granting officer and general ranks in the Prison Service to individuals who didn’t meet promotion conditions. He allegedly approved the appointment of Zbyszko N., a non-PS officer, as an advisor who became head of the Internal Inspection the same day.

Woś Claims Public Interest Actions

Michał Woś stated on X platform: “I have always acted in the public interest.” He argued that all personnel decisions were prepared by professional staff and verified for legal compliance before his signature. He criticized accusations against him as “absurd.”

Lack of Qualifications Cited

Informants at Tvn24.pl revealed that Zbyszko N., appointed head of the Internal Inspection, had no experience in the Prison Service. After leaving ABW, he worked at Pekao bank where advisor was Witold Kornicki, brother of Zbigniew Ziobry. Both Zbyszko N. and former PS director Jacek K. face charges regarding his appointment.

Promotions in the Prison Service

Woś reportedly ordered Zbyszko N.’s promotion to lieutenant colonel and submitted a request for his general rank to President Andrzej Duda, which was refused. Zbyszko N. earned nearly 24,000 zł monthly before retiring in 2023. His successor, Paweł M., was dismissed in January 2024 after the current ruling camp abolished the Internal Inspection.
