During a televised interview with Polish reporters, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenski praised his longstanding friendship with Polish President Andrzej Duda and greeted former Prime Minister Karol Nawrocki, while the European Union approved a €90 billion loan for Ukraine.
Zelenski Discusses Friendship with Polish Leaders
During a late‑night interview conducted by TVP, Polish Radio and the Polish Press Agency, the Ukrainian president highlighted the strong ties he has forged with Polish political figures, noting that he has not seen Andrzej Duda for a long time and expressing gratitude for their mutual cooperation during the COVID‑19 pandemic and the full‑scale war.
He praised Karol Nawrocki for their positive encounter, saying the two had extensive conversations and showed reciprocal understanding.
EU Grants €90 Billion Loan to Ukraine
On Friday morning, European Union leaders approved a 90‑billion‑euro loan for Ukraine, which will be financed through EU budget guarantees rather than frozen Russian assets, according to summit agreements among the 27 member states.
Zelenski thanked Europe for standing by Ukraine, noting that the decision demonstrated unity despite skepticism from some leaders.
Loan Viewed as Moral and Legal Reparation for Russia
He described the loan as important not only financially but also morally and legally, emphasizing the need for Russia to face consequences for the war and calling for reparations as a remedy for the harm inflicted upon Ukraine.
Zelenski also expressed gratitude to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk for sharing this stance.
