Ukrainian President Zelensky discloses intelligence about Russia’s proposed economic deal to the United States during ongoing peace negotiations.
Zelensky on Peace Negotiations
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on Saturday (February 7) that a delegation from Kyiv informed him of the latest detailed talks held with Americans and Russians. The leader stated that he reviewed the course of negotiations, their weak points, and constructive conclusions.
Zelensky informed that with negotiators he summarized progress in creating documents necessary to end the war and discussed possible further meetings. He announced that Kyiv will continuously inform European partners about the course of negotiations and Ukraine’s real prospects in the peace process.
Russia’s Economic Proposal to US
He also revealed that Russia proposed to the United States an economic agreement worth $12 trillion. Zelensky stated, “Intelligence told me about the so-called Dmitriev package.” Kirill Dmitriev is Moscow’s envoy to peace negotiations, who was present in Abu Dhabi.
Zelenski added that Kyiv also sees signals that potential bilateral documents between the US and Russia may contain provisions concerning Ukraine. “I clearly emphasize that Ukraine will not support any, even potential, agreements about us without our participation,” he noted.
Behind the Scenes of Peace Negotiations
Head of Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiha assessed that urgent issues in Ukrainian-Russian peace negotiations should be discussed personally by the leaders of Ukraine and Russia.
In a conversation with Reuters agency, Sybiha said only Donald Trump can lead to the conclusion of a peace agreement. He emphasized that from the 20-point peace plan, several points remain to be discussed, explaining these are “the most delicate and difficult issues that need to be discussed at the leadership level.”
Upcoming Peace Negotiations
Next week in Miami, Ukraine and Russia are scheduled to continue peace negotiations. Kyiv has agreed to talks with the Russian delegation, while the Kremlin emphasizes that there is no specific date yet. Washington is the initiator of the meeting.
This week in Abu Dhabi, another round of peace negotiations took place with the participation of delegations from the USA, Russia and Ukraine.
