Zelensky: We Don’t Have Time for This Nonsense. We Must Make a Decision and End the War

Peace talks in Geneva between Ukraine, Russia, and the US concluded after about two hours, with both sides describing the discussions as difficult but agreeing to continue negotiations.

Difficult but Substantive Talks

Wednesday’s peace talks in Geneva concluded after approximately two hours on the second day of negotiations. Comments from both sides indicated that the talks were difficult but will be continued. Russian chief negotiator Vladimir Medinsky described the talks as “difficult but substantive.”

Zelensky’s Criticism

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky also assessed the latest round of trilateral talks between Kyiv, Moscow, and Washington as “difficult.” He added that the sides agreed to further meetings. Zelensky accused Russia of intentionally prolonging negotiations, which in his opinion could have already entered the final phase.

Donbas Solution Possibility

Regarding Vladimir Putin’s territorial demands, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukrainians might agree to freeze the front line in Donbas. The president emphasized that Ukrainians would never forgive anyone, including himself, for handing over Donbas to the Russians.

Territorial Disputes Remain Key Issue

The talks in Switzerland are mediated by the United States. President Donald Trump has recently urged Ukraine to act quickly, suggesting that it depends on Kyiv to advance the talks. Zelensky stressed that it is unfair to exert pressure only on Ukraine to make concessions for peace. Russia controls approximately 20% of Ukraine’s territory, including Crimea and part of Donbas. The key dispute remains control over eastern regions.
