Zelensky’s Christmas Message Calls for Peace and Criticizes Russians

On Dec. 24, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky posted a Christmas message on X, wishing peace for Ukraine while condemning Russian attacks and calling for the death of Vladimir Putin.

Christmas Message on X

On Wednesday, Dec. 24, President Volodymyr Zelensky shared a video on the platform X in which he offered Christmas greetings to the Ukrainian people. He noted that, from ancient times, Ukrainians believed that the heavens open on Christmas night – and that saying a wish makes it true. He addressed the desire for a single hope: “Let him die,” referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin, a statement he likely intended as a rebuke of the Kremlin.

He Urges Peace for Ukraine

Zelensky explained that when people turn to God, they are asking for more than revenge. “We ask for peace for Ukraine. We fight and pray for it, and we deserve it,” he said. He added that every Ukrainian household should live in harmony, every child should enjoy gifts and smiles, and that the country should preserve its faith in the goodness and wonders of life.

Russian Drone Attacks Show Their Nature

The day before, Russia carried out another wave of drone and missile strikes, killing at least three people and injuring 12 others. The assault targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, leaving the regions of Rówieński, Tarnopolski and Chmielnicki nearly without power. Zelensky referred to these attacks and remarked, “Russians have once again shown who they really are.” He called the attackers “unholy” and said they have nothing to do with Christianity or humanity. He emphasized Ukrainian solidarity, saying that they pray for everyone on the front line, for those held captive, and for the fallen heroes who defended Ukraine at the cost of their lives.
