Ziobro Accuses Donald Tusk of Revenge, Seeks Removal of His Immunity

Former Polish justice minister Zbigniew Ziobro claims Donald Tusk is orchestrating a revenge campaign that includes filing a motion to strip him of parliamentary immunity and seek his detention.

Ziobro Accuses Tusk of “Revenge Game”

Zbigniew Ziobro said at a Budapest conference that a revenge campaign against him has entered a new phase, with a motion to revoke his immunity and a parliamentary vote for temporary arrest.

He blamed Donald Tusk, who he said oversaw numerous investigations involving Tusk‑party members, for using these cases to retaliate against him.

Parliament to Consider Motion to Strip Immunity

A Sejm procedural committee will review the prosecutor’s request to lift Ziobro’s immunity and authorize his arrest. A final decision will be taken on Friday.

If the motion passes, the court will ultimately decide whether Ziobro is placed in custody.

General Prosecutor Sends Immunity‑Removal Request

In October, prosecutor Waldemar Zurek submitted to Marshal Szymon Hołownia a request to remove Ziobro’s parliamentary immunity and permit temporary detention. The request concerns an investigation into alleged misappropriation of funds from the Justice Fund.

Prosecutors claim that Ziobro committed 26 crimes, including leading a criminal group.

Ziobro Declares He Won’t Join Tusk’s Scheme

In an interview with TV Republika, Ziobro said he would provide information at the appropriate time and would not cooperate with any covert plan. He said he had a ticket to return to Poland but learned that a criminal plot to arrest him was being organized.

Accusations Against Former Deputy Justice Minister Marcin Romanowski

Marcin Romanowski, who is now in Hungary, is being sought in the Justice Fund case. In October 2023 he faced 11 charges, including participation in a criminal organization. Investigators allege that he helped allocate funds to groups violating formal and material requirements.

Romanowski maintains his innocence, stating the money was granted under legal rules, and he obtained political asylum in Hungary in December.
