Ziobro Accuses Tusk of Planned Unlawful Detention, Blames “Żurek”

On Monday, 10 November, MP Zbigniew Ziobro posted an explosive claim that former PM Donald Tusk tried to strip him of freedom via a judicial plot, citing a weakened immunity and court reshuffle.

Ziobro’s Allegations

Ziobro claimed that Tusk attempted an illegal deprivation of liberty, labeling it a “court trap.” He pointed to a recent removal of his immunity, arguing that the decision was orchestrated by a politically biased judge, Malinowski, who he described as an “extraordinary activist.”

He further criticized the ruling that primary security measures were used to influence judicial appointments, removing “unfit” judges from criminal departments and reshuffling leadership positions, saying the process was designed to facilitate Tusk’s extradition.

Tusk’s Prior Immunity Struck Down

The Sejm lifted Tusk’s parliamentary immunity on Friday, clearing the way for his detention and temporary arrest. Prosecutors have now charged him with 26 crimes, including abuse of power, failure of duty, and leading an organized criminal group.

Zbigniew Ziobro in Exile

Ziobro currently resides in Hungary. It is unclear whether he will return to Poland or seek political asylum. On Radio Maryja, he declared he would pursue legal and political actions and would not give in.

President’s Response to Potential Pardon

The president’s spokesperson said the president views the request that Minister Ziobro be pardoned as a political ploy, adding that it is an attempt to implicate the minister.
