Ziobro: Death Threats Filed, Former Minister Pursues Charges

Former Polish Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro reports death threats involving his child and files charges amid political tensions.

Death Threats Including Child

Ziobro stated he has recently received numerous death threats, including those targeting his child and defense lawyer Bartosz Lewandowskie. He mentioned posters in Warsaw offering money for him “dead or alive” but previously ignored threats against himself alone. He has now filed a request to prosecute the perpetrators.

Tusk Accused of Inciting Hatred

In a social media post, Ziobro accused Prime Minister Donald Tusk of deliberately inciting “an atmosphere of hatred” against his party, Law and Justice (PiS), and particularly himself. He alleged the current prosecutor’s leadership was appointed illegally for political reasons and lacks independence, suggesting they owe allegiance to Tusk due to their “criminal” appointments.

Fabricated Legal Cases

Ziobro dismissed ongoing legal proceedings against him as fabricated and procedurally flawed, claiming accusations are false and investigative/judicial rules are broken. He directly addressed Tusk, stating he holds full responsibility for the “spectacle of slander and threats” and warned that any harm to his family or defender would be Tusk’s responsibility. Tusk has not responded.
