Polish MP Zbigniew Ziobro said he would actively join the immunity review and asserted he had a ticket to return to Poland, fearing a criminal provocation.
Statement at Press Conference
During a Thursday press conference, Ziobro announced his intention to meet with the state before the parliamentary regulatory committee’s session at 16:00, pledging active involvement in the proceedings.
Claim of Planned Return
On Telewizja Republika, Ziobro claimed he had purchased a ticket and intended to return to Poland, but was warned of a “criminal provocation” that could lead to his arrest on alleged wrongdoing based on false testimony.
Parliamentary Procedure
The regulatory committee will hear prosecutors’ request on Thursday to lift Ziobro’s immunity and authorize his arrest. A final decision will be taken in the plenary chamber on Friday.
Legal Allegations
Chief prosecutor Waldemar Żurek submitted to the Marshal in October a proposal to remove Ziobro’s immunity and allow his temporary detention, citing 26 alleged offences, including leading a criminal group, linked to the misuse of the Justice Fund.
Immunity Review Timeline
If parliament approves the prosecutors’ request, Ziobro will face charges and a court will decide whether he is placed in arrest.
